1. Agreement and who operates the service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Explain AI mobile app, this website, and related features (together, the “Service”). “Explain AI,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of the Service. Operator’s legal name: [confirm before finalizing].

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, ask a parent or legal guardian to review these Terms with you and provide any consent required by law.

2. What Explain AI does

Explain AI offers study tools such as AI-generated explanations, flashcards, quizzes, and ways to organize and review study material. Features may change during development, testing, and after release. We may add, alter, pause, or discontinue features, subject to applicable law and any purchase commitments.

The Service is a study aid. It does not replace your teachers, school materials, professional advice, or your own judgment.

3. Accounts and security

Some app features may require an account. Provide accurate information, keep your sign-in details secure, and tell us if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. You are responsible for activity under your account to the extent allowed by law. The website’s public tester instructions do not require a separate Explain AI website account.

Account deletion and data requests are addressed in the Privacy Policy. The actual deletion path and contact details must be confirmed before these Terms are finalized.

4. Material you submit

You may enter questions, notes, flashcards, or other study material (“Your Content”). You retain any rights you have in Your Content. You give us a limited permission to host, process, transmit, display back to you, and otherwise use Your Content as needed to provide the features you choose to use, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law. Do not submit material you lack the right to use or information you are not comfortable sharing with the Service.

Review needed: confirm whether user content is used to improve models, retained in history, or shared with third-party AI providers; those practices must also appear in the Privacy Policy.

5. AI-generated responses

AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. Check important answers against reliable sources, especially before relying on them for an assignment or important decision. You are responsible for reviewing how you use generated content and for following your school’s academic integrity rules. We do not guarantee a grade, learning outcome, or that output will be unique or error-free.

6. Acceptable use

Use the Service lawfully and respectfully. Do not try to disrupt it, gain unauthorized access, scrape or reverse engineer it where prohibited by law, bypass usage limits, impersonate someone else, upload malware, or use it to violate another person’s rights. Do not use the Service to generate or distribute unlawful, abusive, or harmful material. We may limit access to protect the Service and its users.

7. Closed testing

During the Google Play closed test, availability and features may change, and you may encounter bugs or interruptions. Joining a Google Group, opting into the Play test, and installing the app are separate steps. Google controls its own account and Play enrollment processes. A website step marked complete is a convenience on your device, not verification of Play enrollment or eligibility for a reward.

The advertised lifetime Pro offer is limited to the first 25 eligible testers who complete the required testing period. Detailed eligibility, verification, and delivery rules: [confirm before finalizing the offer]. Joining the group or installing the app alone does not guarantee the benefit.

8. Pro features and purchases

Some app features may be offered through Explain AI Pro. Any price, billing period, renewal terms, and cancellation steps must be shown at the point of purchase. If a purchase is processed by Google Play or another store, the store’s payment and refund rules may also apply. Any lifetime Pro award from the test is subject to the published eligibility rules, not to a purchase.

Review needed: confirm actual plan types, billing and refund practices, and whether any web purchases exist before using this section as final terms.

9. Our materials

The Service, its design, software, branding, and content we provide are owned by Explain AI or its licensors. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the Service under these Terms. This does not transfer ownership of the Service or of Your Content.

10. Third-party services

The Service or website may link to Google Play, Google Groups, or other third-party services. Their terms and privacy practices govern your use of their services. A link does not imply sponsorship or affiliation. Explain AI is not affiliated with Google, Google Play, or OpenAI unless a separate statement expressly says otherwise.

11. Availability and disclaimers

We aim to provide a useful study experience, but the Service may be unavailable, contain errors, or change. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we provide the Service “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that it will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or suitable for a particular result. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or warranties that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Limits on liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Explain AI is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from your use of the Service. Any limit on direct liability must be stated by the legal operator and reviewed for applicable law before these Terms are finalized. This section does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Ending access

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access if you materially violate these Terms or if necessary to protect the Service or comply with law. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue. Ending access does not remove rights or obligations that by their nature continue, including ownership, payment obligations already incurred, and applicable limitations.

14. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We will post the revised version with a new date and give additional notice where required by law. Material changes will apply prospectively as required by law.

Questions about these Terms can be sent to [support email to be added]. Confirm the operator’s legal name, contact method, and any jurisdiction-specific provisions before publishing these as final Terms.
